AIMING to put her best foot forward will be Georgia May-Foote who is making her professional stage debut in the touring version of Breakfast at Tiffany’s when it arrives in the county in October.

Georgia, who was runner-up in last year’s Strictly Come Dancing, will be playing Holly Golightly, one of the theatre world’s major roles.

She has appeared in a number of television roles such as Katy Armstrong in Coronation Street, Gemma in This Is England ’86 and Alison Simmons in Grange Hill, and says she is now looking forward to treading the boards.

She says: “I am so excited that for my first theatre role I will be playing such an iconic character.

"I am really looking forward to touring with the cast of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. It’s a wonderful adaptation of an incredible story and I'm really thrilled to be part of it!”

Truman Capote’s classic novella has been lovingly adapted for the stage by Tony and Olivier Award-winning playwright Richard Greenberg, and contains memorable songs from the era as well as original music by Grant Olding.

It tells the tale of Holly Golightly’s fantastical existence in 1940’s New York and director Nikolai Foster, said of the casting of Georgia May Foote: "Completing our perfect trio of leading ladies taking on the role of Holly Golightly, we are all thrilled Georgia is joining the team.

“It's hugely inspiring for all of us to be working with actors who are perfectly suited to the role and will help encourage new generations of theatregoers to share Capote's beautiful story."

Also in the cast are Matt Barber (Atticus Aldridge in Downton Abbey) as Fred, Victor McGuire (the sit-coms Trollied and Bread) as Joe Bell, Robert Calvert as Doc, and Naomi Cranston as Mag.

Based on Truman Capote’s beloved masterwork, Breakfast at Tiffany’s is set in New York in 1943.

Fred, a young writer from Louisiana, meets Holly Golightly, a charming, vivacious and utterly elusive good-time girl.

Everyone falls in love with Holly – including Fred. But Fred is poor, and Holly’s other suitors include a playboy millionaire and the future president of Brazil. As war rages on in Europe, Holly begins to fall in love with Fred – just as her past catches up with her.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s will be appearing at Malvern’s Festival Theatre from Monday, October 10 to Saturday, October 15.
