HOT on the heels of successfully launching a new bistro in the centre of Alvechurch, the owners of Café Morso are now demonstrating their support for local grassroots football and a charity.

Their funding has allowed Alvechurch Lions Under 9s team to secure brand new kits to get their new season off to a flying start.

To mark the occasion, Café Morso opened its doors after the first match of the season on Sunday, September 14 to provide chocolate milkshake treats to the team and helpers.

The Under 9s team is jointly managed by local parents Craig Wyton and Dave Ruston.

Mr Ruston said: "The lads look really smart in their new kit and we are very pleased that sponsorship has come from within the village."

Café Morso has also agreed to support the Royal Voluntary Service by having a collection tin on their counter. This will provide vital funds which will go towards the new Good Neighbours scheme. The project is intended to help alleviate social isolation within the community.

Manni Watts, owner of Café Morso, said: "It is wonderful to be part of the Alvechurch community. We have received a very positive welcome since expanding into the village and felt showing our support for both young and old was a small way to return the gratitude."
