A FATHER of two caught with cannabis at his Redditch home has been given a chance by a judge.

Paul Hemmings had cannabis with a total street value of £1,000 when police executed a warrant and searched his home on June 25 last year, Worcester Crown Court heard.

The court heard he had been selling the drugs for some time to friends and using the money to pay for his own cannabis habit.

Diljit Bachada, defending, said Hemmings had two children and had been in full time work for three years.

The 32-year-old, of Linton Close, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply and was given a 15 month sentence suspended for two years. He was also ordered to do 200 hours unpaid work.

Recorder Andrew Mainds said he going to give Hemmings a chance and not send him straight to jail.

"You are in work and have the support of your employers and that has kept you out of prison," he told Hemmings.
