FOLLOWING concern from the public Diamond Bus, the local provider of bus services in Redditch, is making some changes across the town.

Feedback from residents in the area asked for more buses to Alexandra Hospital and the changes, from September 1, will see this request being met with a number of new services.

New services 47, 48 and 55 will replace existing services 55, 55H, 56, 56H.

The combined frequency of the new services will provide a bus every 15 minutes from Redditch bus station to the Alex Hospital during Monday to Saturday daytimes and every 30 minutes on Sunday daytimes.

Service 67 will additionally return to serving the Hospital grounds and service 247 will continue to provide additional departures to the Hospital.

Diamond has also been working towards improvements on the popular 57 and 58 services.

The introduction of a new timetable in September will see these services continuing to operate a frequent intervals service during the daytimes.

In a bid to to improve reliability, the revised timetable will allow more time for buses to complete their journeys during the peak periods.

Services 57A and 58A to Alexandra Hospital will be replaced by new services 47 and 48.

Other services will operate to revised timetables and there will be some route changes for services covering Lakeside and Woodrow South.

Services will also operate to a regular frequency throughout the day.

Paul McNamara, business development manager at Diamond Bus, said: “Following regular feedback from our customers in Redditch, Worcestershire County Council and other interested parties, we have taken steps to improve the reliability of our network and access to Alexandra Hospital.

"In addition, from September 1 all Diamond buses in Redditch will meet full Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) requirements allowing full access for mobility impaired customers.”
