IT was all change at Redditch Borough Council’s Annual Meeting, held earlier this week, where a new mayor was appointed.
Councillor Joe Baker has taken over from Pattie Hill as the new mayor of Redditch for 2016/17.
Councillor Jenny Wheeler has taken on the role of deputy mayor.
Cllr Baker has chosen Redditch Mental Health Action Group (MHAG), Charlotte And Craig Saving Hearts Foundation, and the Samaritans as his charities for this year.
He paid tribute to Councillor Hill and thanked her for her excellent service during the last 12 months.
"It's a privilege to take on the role and I will do my best to serve the town and the people who live here," he said.
Describing himself as a mayor "available for everyone" he said that "it will be a year of inclusion and acceptance".
Cllr Hill managed to raise £7,500 during her time as mayor which was shared between Redditch First Responders, Redditch Cat Rescue, and Touchstones.
She said she was happy as well as sad that her time as mayor had come to an end.
"It has been an amazing experience," she said.
Councillor Bill Hartnett was chosen to remain as leader of the council and the meeting also saw a number of portfolio holders chosen.
