A CHAMPIONSHIP football team has suspended its head coach following allegations he took a £5,000 payment to help place players at his club.

Barnsley have suspended coach Tommy Wright over payment allegations revealed as part of The Telegraph's report into alleged corruption in football.

Queens Park Rangers boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino have also been shown in new video footage released today.

DEVELOPED nations should eat less meat to cut their carbon footprint, according to the former president of Ireland Mary Robinson.

Mrs Robinson, 72, spoke at the One Young World Summit in Ottawa, Canada, in front of world leaders, stressing the need for change.

"We don't need to consume as much as we have in the world," she said.

"We need each of us to think about our carbon footprint. Eat less meat, or no meat at all. Become vegetarian or vegan."

A SCANDAL-hit ambulance trust is to be put into special measures after a regulator found it was putting patients at risk.

In a series of damning reports, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) detailed how patients had abandoned their telephone calls for help - particularly on weekends - due to problems at South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (Secamb).

The regulator also found serious issues with how staff were allocated to ambulances, meaning inexperienced or unqualified staff could be sent to patients, putting them at risk.

PLANNING for Brexit could cost the Government £65 million a year and involve hiring at least 500 civil servants, a new report warns.

The paper criticises Prime Minister Theresa May's "silence" on her negotiating position for leaving the European Union, which it says is "unsettling" for business and "perplexing" for countries the UK faces negotiating with.

In the absence of a clearly articulated Government strategy, off-the-cuff remarks are filling the void, the report by the Institute for Government think-tank warns.
