Police have issued an appeal for residents to be mindful ahead of Bonfire Night.

West Mercia Police said they often get increased calls around this time of year and have reminded residents of the rules surrounding fireworks to help reduce anti-social behaviour.

This includes the risk of fines and prosecution if anyone sells fireworks to under-18s and that it is illegal to set off fireworks between midnight and 7am on Bonfire Night and 11pm and 7am on other days of the year.

It is also illegal to let off a firework in a public place and police have the power to stop and search anyone suspected of carrying fireworks.

West Mercia Police said: “Your Safer Neighbourhood Team will be on patrol throughout the week and on Bonfire Night.

“We hope you have a safe and enjoyable time, but be considerate of others.”
