Redditch United hosted an action-packed charity day match last weekend in memory of those who lost their lives during wars and other conflicts.

On Saturday, November 11 the team welcomed Barwell in a league fixture dedicated as a ‘Community and Charities Day’ on Remembrance Day.

The sides were joined by a whole host of fantastic organisations including The Royal British Legion, the current serving 37th Signal Regiment, Hereford and Worcester Cadets and the Redditch Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club.

A spokesperson for Redditch Utd said: “We’d like to thank all of those in attendance for a wonderful observed minutes silence whilst the Last Post was played and for the money raised for The Royal British Legion.”

The 37th Signal Regiment had an interactive stand set up with activities for everyone to enjoy before they marched onto the pitch ahead of kick off with a flag bearer.

The cadets then formed a guard of honour for the Regiment before The Act of Remembrance with Rigby Hall School and Redditch Utd’s own U10s being mascots for the day.

Supporters were also treated to a dance performance by the ENTW9 Dance Group with The Batchley Support Group having a stand set up to raise money for their work in the local community.

“We would like to thank everyone that joined us for the day and made the occasion a great success. We hope to see you again soon.”

The team’s road to Wembley in the FA Trophy will see them host Rushall Olympic at 3pm on Saturday, November 18 at The Valley Stadium.
