Officers from the Safer Neighbourhood Team were on the lookout for shoplifters at Redditch railway station yesterday (January 24) as part of Neighbourhood Policing Week.

Redditch SNT partnered with West Midlands Police and the British Transport Police (BTP) to look for potential shoplifters or persons known to officers arriving from the Birmingham area.

The operation was one of the force's regular activities to monitor passengers coming in and out of the station to protect the public from criminals.

Police Constable Mike Moore of Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “This was one of our regular joint operations targeted at shoplifters and known offenders whose actions have a major impact on livelihoods in the communities we serve in North Worcestershire.

“Thankfully, we hope partly due to these regular patrols, there were no incidents to report on this occasion, but we will continue to police the railway station to keep the public safe.”

The Neighbourhood Policing Week aims to highlight the work done by the police every day of the year to tackle criminal activities such as anti-social behaviour, burglaries, shoplifting, violence, domestic abuse, hate crimes and drugs that impact your neighbourhood.
