POLICE have seized "items of interest" in a mound of fly-tipped waste in Alvechurch.

The rubbish was dumped on Watery Lane this week.

They shared a picture of officers cleaning up the waste, some of which was in black bin bags.

PCSO Chris Evans said on West Mercia Police's neighbourhood matters system: "Some of the items were of interest to officers and seized, whilst the rest will be dealt with by the council.

"Our local councils have a team of enforcement officers who investigate fly-tipping on public land and public highways, including grass verges and footpaths."

Whilst in the village PC Homer, PC Lumley, and PC Hohman took the opportunity to conduct a speeding operation, following concerns from the community and local councillors.

PCSO Evans said: "Several drivers were stopped and spoke to regarding their driving."
