Your Co-op has donated thousands of pounds to a new charity partner in the county.

The organisation has made a donation of £5,244 to its newest charity partner, The Wyre Forest and South Worcestershire Nightstop & Mediation Service.

The charity, which is based in Kidderminster, serves as a sanctuary for homeless young people aged between 11 and 25 in the county.

The charity also raises awareness about youth homelessness through educational programmes catered to secondary schools.

Alice Thompson, community and beneficiary engagement officer at the charity, said: "This generous donation not only enables us to provide accommodation and crisis support for homeless young people, but it also offers hope, opportunity, and the chance for a brighter future.

"Your Co-op's support will make a tangible difference in their lives, empowering them to break the cycle of homelessness, access family mediation and pursue their dreams."

Tarra Simmons, head of community and democratic engagement at Your Co-op, said: "We know how important donations like these are for our charity partners, as they serve the most vulnerable in their communities with much needed care and support.

"To be able to come together with our members, colleagues and customers to support them on this scale means we can keep doing good together and putting the community at the heart of everything we do.

"We look forward to seeing more of their remarkable work over the coming year and will continue to work closely with our charity partners to learn how we can provide further positive impact for local people.”

This donation follows a successful fundraising event in December which raised £25,500 across 183 Your Co-op Food stores as part of its annual Christmas Foodbank Appeal.

The proceeds, raised by members, customers, and colleagues were distributed equally to partners across Swindon, North Oxfordshire, Shrewsbury, Wolverhampton, and Walsall.
