Two new environment plans for Worcestershire have been given the green light.

The county council's cabinet approved the new Environment Improvement Plan and the updated Net Zero Carbon Plan in a meeting yesterday (March 28).

Both plans aim to protect the environment while tackling climate change.

Strategising the approach towards eight core priorities, including natural environment, energy, waste, transport, Net Zero Council, green economy, flood management, and community engagement, the plans aim to boost environmental development in the county.

Sue Crow, the council's strategic programme manager for economy, sustainability and tourism said: "Both of these plans are incredibly important in supporting the Council in its ambition to enhance the county's environment."

The plans' success will be measured by factors such as the number of trees planted, hectares of biodiversity gain, reduced carbon emissions, new or improved cycleways, active travel enhancements, green economic growth, and protecting flood damage.

To find out more about the initiatives, residents can visit new web pages for each plan on the council's website (www.worcestershire.gov.uk/environment).
