MANAGER Lee Adams wants an overall improvement in Alvechurch’s attacking performances.

The Lye Meadow outfit have started to show a more steely side with two clean sheets in the last two games in the Midlands Football League Premier.

But Adams is still waiting for his team to click in terms of troubling opposition defenders.

On Saturday, Joe Adams bagged a 92nd minute winner as Church edged out Continental Star 1-0.

It saw them bounce back from last Tuesday’s 3-1 extra-time loss to Causeway United in the Birmingham Senior Cup.

Adams said: “We didn’t play well but the back four played well and we looked solid.

“But in terms of going forward we weren’t quite good enough. It wasn’t down to individuals, it was a collective performance and there’s a lot of room for improvement.

“I can’t knock the players’ attitude because they work their socks off.”

Adams handed a start to new signing Andy Nicols, who looked lively alongside Gareth Evans.

The Church boss is still looking to draft in a new striker but has admitted he has found it harder to bring in new players.

He said: “It’s taking a but longer than I thought but we’re in a reasonable position and if we can string a few results together then we’d move up the table.

“I have said before I want to bring in two or three good players but because of the time of the year it is more difficult.

“It could be next summer before we get some of the players.”

Alvechurch, who played Bewdley Town in the Worcestershire Senior Urn, entertain second-from-bottom Dunkirk in the league on Saturday (3pm ko).

Next Tuesday, they take on Hinckley AFC in the HW Hunt Cup (7.45pm ko).
