REDDITCH Ladies streaked to their fifth straight win in the Worcestershire League as they saw off Evesham and Badsey 4-1.

Evesham and Badsey opened the scoring and piled the pressure on the Reds.

But Anna Stafford battled hard and was eventually awarded a penalty flick, which sealed Redditch’s first goal, leaving the first half tied at 1-1.

In the second half, Redditch’s opponents paid the price for their physical approach when they had a player yellow carded for foul play.

Despite having a player injured, the Kingfishers rallied and Ruth Waite found the backboard, firing them into a 2-1 lead.

Demi Drysdale then smashed home the rebound after her first shot had been saved.

But Redditch did not stop there; Jo Williams made the most of a short corner and deflected the ball past the keeper.

The game finished with the home team having a short corner, and, as the whole team stood around the D, the team’s passion was evident.

Redditch will be aiming to keep their excellent run of form going against Stourport next weekend.

The seconds lost to Worcester fourths 4-1.

With debutant Sam Mansell in goal, the visitors edged ahead with an early goal but the team stepped up their game with some excellent passing from Fran Evans and Kayleigh Young. Redditch equalised with a goal from Demi Drysdale, leaving the first half score at 1-1.

In the second half, both teams put pressure on each other’s defence but the visitors scored another three goals to leave the final score as 4-1.

Redditch face local rivals Bromsgrove next Saturday.

Meanwhile, the men’s first team suffered an 8-1 defeat at the hands of Market Drayton in the West Midlands Premier.

They go to Coventry-based Sikh Union in the league on Saturday.

Redditch Badgers put in a hard working display in their 3-0 defeat to Evesham.

Both teams had chances to score but were not able to secure a goal until the 25th minute, when a slip in the Redditch defence allowed Evesham to take advantage of a two-on-one scenario and open the scoring.

The second half started well for Evesham who scored after only five minutes of play, but Redditch didn’t feel like they were out of the game just yet and had possession for most of the period.

The young Kingfishers had Harry Williams, Ben Tominski, Harrison Knight and Ben Cattell pile on the pressure, before the visitors bagged a third goal.
