ALVECHURCH manager Lee Adams feels the confidence is starting to flood into his players.

The Lye Meadow outfit may have been denied the chance to increase their three-game winning run when the frosty conditions forced off their away clash at Stourport in the Midlands Football League Premier.

But there's no doubt Church approach the Christmas period in their best form of the season.

After beating AFC Wulfrunians and Boldmere St Michaels in the league and Brocton in the JW Hunt Cup 4-1 last Tuesday Adams is keen for his troops for keep pushing on all fronts.

He said: "What a difference a good run of form makes.

"The confidence is flowing back into the lads, they're enjoying training much more and it's great to see.

"We're still working hard on what we want to achieve and we're not there yet."

Against Brocton, Alvechurch fell behind but roared back to win thanks to goals for Luke Shearer's brace as well as strikes by Gareth Edwards and James Cosgrave which put them in the JW Hunt quarter-finals.

Adams' side are going well in knockout competitions, having progressed in the League Cup and Worcestershire Senior Urn.

Meanwhile, Church have drafted in former Stourport Swifts keeper Daniel Platt, who has spent the last two years playing Sunday League football.

Platt, who works on Saturdays, has been drafted in because of an injury to Ashley Malhotra, who is nearing a return.

Adams said: "Considering Daniel had not played on a Saturday for two years he did extremely well.

"His kicking was fantastic and he also made one very good save.

"He can't play on Saturdays but hopefully we'll have Ashley back soon and we'll have two keepers over Christmas."

Alvechurch, who play Brocton in the cup on Tuesday night, go to Brocton in the league on Saturday (3pmko).

Adams said: "We've beaten Brocton twice 4-1 in the league and cup, so it's up to me to make sure the lads aren't complacent."
