Alcester 64, Droitwich 2nd XV 17

N EXPERIMENTAL Alcester line-up ensured the King’s Coughton men racked up a big scoreline for the second successive Saturday.

The hosts opened the scoring through centre Andy Conway, which Glyn Smith converted.

Midway through the half the floodgates opened when skipper and leading scorer Jack Green touched down.

Glyn Smith, Martin Gurr and Andy Conway then added further tries, with Smith converting three of them.

Stunned Droitwich pulled a score back, but Green and Alex Chiles touched down as Alcester ran riot.

Droitwich narrowed the scoreline with two tries, one of which was converted, after some half-hearted home defending for both scores.

But Alcester’s domination resumed and Conway completed his hat -trick with Smith converting, before he added his fourth try shortly afterwards.

Fly-half Smith rounded off the scoring with his second try, which he converted to end an excellent afternoon for the home side.

Alcester return to league action on Saturday when Copsewood are the visitors to Kings Coughton (2.15pm ko).

Meanwhile, the Seconds secured an excellent 29-11 win over their Wythall neighbours to make a good weekend for the King’s Coughton club.

Alcester scored five tries through Matt Ashby, Matt Gunningham, Ed Benskin, Harry Abell and Robbie Parker, with Benskin adding two conversions.

The Under-16s got the better of Shipston 29-0, with Charlie Cox, Tom Goddard, Callum Wright and Jamie Harland scoring.
