Coventry Welsh 22, Kings Norton 29

KINGS Norton made it two wins in a row with a good dominant display in Warwickshire.

Winger Anthony Ginty opened the scoring with a try on his debut following good work by Chris Hands.

Welsh replied but Norton edged ahead again when Will Greenwood raced under the posts and Shane Rees converted the extras.

Coventry drew level with an unconverted try in the right-hand corner before Hands made a strong mazy race to the line for an unconverted score as Norton went into the break leading 17-12.

Facing an uphill struggle against the wind in the second period, Kings mustered their strengths and the quintet of Rob McGhee, Ben Boyce, Hands, Kris Fen and Greenwood provided the platform for an eventual victory, with the visitors wisely throughout the match using all of their replacements.

They scored their third try when Fen and Boyce, Hands and Greenwood combined to allow Ryan Morey to score, which was enough to secure a bonus point.

Rees kicked the extras but the home side hit back only for Norton to run in their fifth try of the game when the impressive Hands touched down for a converted effort.

Coventry, who had previously scored a penalty, pulled a consolation effort back but it was too little too late.

With just two league matches remaining, Kings Norton play their final home match on Saturday when they take on promotion favourites Evesham (3pm kick-off).
