REDDITCH Hockey Club celebrated the 2014-15 season in style at their annual awards evening.

The event was a huge success with around 90 members attending to celebrate a year which saw Redditch Hockey Club start their rebuilding after a couple of difficult seasons.

Ade Young was one of the big winners, as he scooped the men's first team player of the year and clubman of the year awards. Along with Anna Cardy, Josh Checkley and Dean Farmer, Young received the coaches' recognition accolade.

Joe Cardy's efforts some him named the seconds' man of the season, while Will Moss picked up the same award for the thirds.

Jacob Beard's efforts saw him receive the Joe Baggs Memorial prize.

Emma Preston and and Ruth Waite received the ladies firsts player of the season and top goalscorer trophies, while Josh Brown was junior player of the year.

Connor Adams' dedication paid off as he was given the most improved award.

Redditch had testing season, with the men's firsts relegated back to West Midlands Division One after a league restructure.

The Chairman Tim Gibbs said: "We were disappointed that the men's team were relegated when we thought we had done enough but it gives us a chance to blood our junior players."
