Worcestershire Senior Cup Semi-Final: Redditch United 1, Kidderminster Harriers 1 (Redditch win 3-0 on penalties)

REDDITCH United booked their place in the Worcestershire Senior Cup Final after seeing off holders Harriers in a one-sided penalty shoot out.

Liam McDonald's side book their trip to Aggborough on Saturday where they will face either Evesham United or Worcester City.

Both sides carved out plenty of chances in the first half before Luke Shearer slotted Reds in front moments before half time, netting from close range after Harriers defence had been prised opening following a surging run from substitute Liam Spink.

Shearer should have opened his account after six minutes when put in the clear following a dreadful back-pass from Adam Dawson who was on trial with Harriers having spent last season with Newport County.

But with only goalkeeper Dean Snedeker to beat, Shearer fired the chance wide.

Harriers had their chances as well.

Dawson picked out Keyon Reffell with a precise right wing cross, but the Harriers frontman headed feebly wide when in front of goal.

Jake Green blazed another good chance over seconds later before Reffell headed against the post on 20 minutes.

Harriers then saw Dan Sweeney smash a great shot against the underside of Reds' crossbar from 20 yards out before Reds finally went ahead through Shearer.

The second half saw Reds take control. Jamie Molyneux had a goalbound effort fingertipped over the crossbar by Snedeker at full stretch.

Snedeker did even better when diving backwards to prevent a Troy Baker shot going in.

But the shotstopper rode his luck when he appeared to bring down Shearer on the hour inside the penalty area - but the referee instead booked David Vincent for an earlier foul and awarded Reds a free kick outside the area - much to the bemusement of everyone.

Just when it looked as though Reds were home and dry, Dan Sweeney burst through with a storming run to fire home past Josh Moreton and level matters in the 89th minute.

It led to a penalty shoot-out which Harriers will want to forget after failing to find the target with four attempts, while George Carline, Jamie Molyneux and substitute Danny Dubidat proved much more accurate for Reds.
