THE S&W Birmingham Over-60s League was a happy hunting ground, providing excellent wins for both Alcester crown green bowling sides in Division Seven.

The A team visited the West Midlands Travel green and came away with single figure wins led by captain Margaret D’Elia (21-5) with David Whittington (21-6) and Renny Bannister (21-17) close behind.

Not to be outdone the, B team also gained five winners in a 52 shot success.

Red Masterson (21-6), Jean Craddock and John Williamson (both 21-7) and Christine Anderson (21-8) gave Alcester 4 single figure wins, with Trish Barry (21-15) adding a final point.

Following their defeat at Alcester last week, Bournville Sports turned the tables on their visitors in the return match at Cadbury's.

In Division One, Alcester did manage three winning cards from John Slater (21-13), Carole Slater (21-16) and Jean Bannister (21-20).

The B team in Division Three recovered well from their defeat last week at Ye Olde Knowle to gain a 37 shot win in the return match.

A stunning 21-1 card from Val McDermott was solidly backed up by Gill Evans (21-7), Ken Craddock (21-11), Trish Barry and Margaret D’Elia (both 21-15), to give 8 points to the home team.

In the Heart of England League, Alcester A visited Moseley CC A in Division Two.

A heavy 43 shot defeat befell Alcester, with just two narrow 21-20 wins from Jean and Renny Bannister.

In Division Four the B team faired better, recording a 22 shot success.

Winning cards from Red Masterson (21-5), Margaret D’Elia (21-9), Jean Sherrington (21-12), Val McDermott (21-15) and David Whittington (21-20).

A whitewash awaited Alcester A in the Over-60s section of the Heart of England League Division One on their visit to Austin British Legion. The home side picked up all 16 points on offer in this 55 shot defeat for the visitors.

In Division Five, the B side did the exact opposite to the A team, and picked up all 16 points in a 58 shot win when they entertained Woodbourne B.

Alcester’s winners in this whitewash were Jean Craddock (21-4), John Williamson (21-5), Christine Anderson (21-11), Val McDermott (21-15), Trish Barry (21-16) and David Whittington (21-17).
