MICHAEL Eilberg bagged a hat-trick of national titles while competing at the LeMieux Dressage Championships in Stoneleigh.

The 28-year-old from Redditch had five world-class rides and finished impressively in the top seven in all the classes he competed in.

Eilberg's National Championship campaign got off to a flying start with a solid win in the Monarch Equestrian Intermediate II category.

Taking the class with a confident 69.87 per cent on the British-bred Half Moon Dynasty, owned by Jon and Julie Deverill, Michael was pleased with the mare's test.

He said: "It was really good actually, a few little mistakes in the green areas but her potential is looking great.

"I was hoping for a good score, especially with the way she was passaging down the last centre line and the pirouettes were a lot better than they had been in the past."

In the Saracen Horse Feeds Inter I Championship, Eilberg was on with the promising Woodlander Farouche, owned by father Ferdi and Alison Walton.

The duo won the event with a score of 74.11 per cent, but it would have been better if a series of errors had not impeded them.

He then secured a third title on Farouche, topping the freestyle championship.

As the last pair to go, they learned from the mistakes of their rivals to record 78.62 per cent to secure yet more silverware by the smallest of margins.
