REDDITCH Ladies grabbed their first win of the season in the Worcestershire League when they saw off Bournville 4-3 last Saturday.

The Kingfishers had suf - fered a poor start as the Birmingham side opened the scoring early on.

But they found their rhythm and powered into a 3-1 lead by half time, with Natalie Frisch and Anna Stafford scoring.

After the break, Stafford scored another to complete her hat-trick but Bournville were not afraid to fight back and scored two goals during the second half.

They also narrowly missed a short corner right at the end of the game but Red - ditch held on for the win.

Meanwhile in the West Midlands Division One, the Men’s first team roared to a 5-0 win over Barlaston.

The hosts were never really in the game and it took only six minutes for Redditch to look dangerous.

They opened the scoring when Harry Moss tapped home after good work by Harry Capewell.

Keeper Ben Bryant was on hand to deny the home side with a series of fine saves.

Redditch made it 2-0 when Pete Dawson finished well af - ter good work by John Styz - aker.

They made it 3-0 just before half time when Capewell, on his debut, scored from close range.

It was soon 4-0 when Capewell bagged his second goal of the game with a well- struck reverse-stick shot.

The second half started in Matt Walton hit the back of the net.

Redditch Thirds also en - joyed a 2-1 win at Droitwich to claim more local bragging rights.

Harry Williams had fired them into the lead.

Despite Spa coming into the game a long-range ef - fort from Tim Gibbs doubled Redditch’s lead.

Their rivals bagged a sec - ond-half effort but the King - fishers weathered heavy pressure to survive.

Redditch Badgers, cap - tained by Jack Drydales, started the league season with a 5-0 win over Droit - wich.

The skipper bagged two goals to hand them the lead and then completed his hat- trick in the first half.

The second half saw Ethan Reeves getting on the scoresheet after a good team effort, before Luke Baker bagged the fifth goal.

On Sunday, the Under-16s suffered a 7-0 loss to Streetly.

similar fashion with man of the match Tom Waite again proving too skilful for the Barlaston defence as he beat them with an individual goal, fired into the bottom corner to make it 5-0.

Barlaston were frustrated and were temporarily down to ten men after having a player green carded for a bad tackle.
