Chesham United 3, Redditch United 0

Redditch put in a below-par performance and paid the price, slumping to their worst defeat of the season.

Skipper Danny Dubidat could have put the visitors ahead on 15 minutes but, with just the keeper to beat, he put his shot wide of the target.

That was about as good as it got for the Reds before the break as the home side went on to dominate proceedings and cruise into a two-goal lead.

The first came on 19 minutes. Bruce Wilson’s shot was blocked by Redditch defender Will Richards but Brad Watkins was on hand to turn in the rebound.

Dave Pearce doubled the lead on 34 minutes, punishing some sloppy defending as the Reds failed to clear their lines.

The visitors came a little more into the game after the break and were again the first side to threaten when, on 52 minutes, Calum Flanagan’s cross gound George Carline but his header was saved by Chesham keeper George Legg.

But it wasn’t to be their day and any hopes of an unlikely fightback ended on 64 minutes when Calvin Bossman was brought down by Jamey Osborne and Pearce scored his second of the game from the spot.

Moments earlier, visiting keeper Jose Veiga pulled off a brilliant reflex save to deny Bossman while in the closing stages, Jamie Molyneux went close to snatching a consolation when his shot was deflected agonisingly wide of the Chesham target.
