ALVECHURCH are hoping the arrival of striker Nathan Waite will rekindle their goal-scoring form.

Church have scored just four goals in as many games but the arrival of the former Tividale striker from Halesowen Town could pep up their striking department.

Assistant manager Richard Colwell said: "We've stopped scoring as many goals as before but hopefully Nathan can help fix that.

"We've been creating chances but not taking them but he's a natural finisher.

"He was previously with us at Tividale and helped us to win the Midland Alliance title two years ago."

The Lye Meadow outfit were left frustrated after their home clash against Brocton in the Midlands Premier was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.

It was a chance to bounce back from last Tuesday night's 1-1 draw at Quorn, as they squandered an opportunity to close the gap on leaders Hereford.

Church have four games in hand and trail by 11 points.

Colwell added: "It was frustrating to see our game called off but there was nothing we could do about it.

"It's important that we make sure we win our games in hand to keep putting the pressure on Hereford."

Alvechurch, who were set to play Hereford away in the Polymac League Cup on Tuesday night (7.45pm ko), then go to Quorn on Saturday (3pm ko).

Alvechurch then have an important game against title contenders Sporting Khalsa next Tuesday (7.45pm ko).
