REDDITCH CC endured a frustrating weekend in the Worcestershire County League.

The firsts went joint top of Worcestershire League Division Two after scheduled opponents Lye had ground issues and were forced to concede the fixture.

Skipper Greg Chinn has a home fixture this coming Saturday with Enville the visitors to Bromsgrove Road.

The seconds continued their unbeaten start to the season as Saturday’s home fixture to Hagley got washed out after 44 overs.

Skipper Geoff Eley won the toss and soon had Hagley in trouble losing three quick wickets, all caught by wicketkeeper Aaron Tozer.

Hagley skipper James Trinham 42 and Ian Moss 48 guided Hagley to 176/6 before the heavy rain came.

On Saturday the Kingfishers travel to Colwall, who currently lie second in the table.

The thirds and fourths suffered narrow defeats against Old Edwardians.

They were bowled out for 241 with opener Naseek Hussain scoring 95, skipper Ben Hicklin 30 and Tom Heming (22) chipping in.

In reply, a superb partnership of 124 between Paul Shearman (78) and Mark Groves (73) put Old Elizabethans in charge.

Skipper Nick Pullen added 41 to see the visitors home by four wickets.

Dean Ottley’s fourths suffered a similar fate at Old Elizabethans, restricting the home side to 165-9 off 45 overs the Kingfishers crumbled to 130 all out in the 44th over.

Chris Reed rolled back the years with an excellent 38 and Jacob Ottley underlined his potential with 26.

Redditch Old Hill are this weekend’s opponents home and away.
