ALCESTER Bowling club suffered a dismal penultimate week of the crown green season when the much feared prospect of relegation from Division One of the Heart of England Over 60's League became a reality when they lost by 32 shots to Kings Norton A.

Only Ken Harvey with 21-12 could return a winning card as Kings Norton romped to a 15-1 points triumph.

Alcester B team fared no better in Division Five when they were sunk by a 41 shot defeat to Moorpool B.

Again they could only provide one winner when John Willis carded a 21-11 success.

Although Alcester B are already assured of promotion, they must win the return match with Moorpool to go up as champions.

Alcester also lost by 14 shots to Yardley Wood Social in Northfield League Division Three.

Winning cards from Brian Lees and John Alderson, both 21-16 and Dave Hovell 21-20 proved insufficient to prevent defeat.

The only bright note was provided by Alcester B in the S and W Birmingham Over 60's League when they beat Olton Tavern B by 52 shots.

Winning cards came from Jean Sherrington 21-4, David Hodgson 21-5, Geoff Spiers 21-6 and Margaret D'Elia 21-9.
