STUDLEY'S own Hannah Hampton has been called up to the England squad for the World Cup qualifiers starting this weekend.

The Aston Villa goalkeeper will be part of the squad that takes on Northern Ireland today, followed by Latvia on Tuesday.

Her proud parents Chris and Laura Hampton will be cheering the Lionesses on at Wembley today, having supported their daughter around the world from when she started playing football aged five.

The former Studley Infants School pupil has worked her way through the England set up at all levels, before getting the call from manager England boss Sarina Wiegman to join the squad for the qualifiers for the 2023 World Cup.

Hannah dad Chris said: "We're so proud she is in the England set up, we've supported her all over the country and the world."

Her mother Laura added: "People in Studley ask how she is getting on, the village has been really supportive."

Hannah's journey to the England team began aged five, when she was spotted by Villareal while her family lived in Spain.

She played in the Villareal junior mixed team for four years, before her family moved back to England and she played as a striker for Stoke.

The 20-year-old was spotted by an England scout aged 12 and represented England with the under 14's team before moving up all the youth levels to the under-21's team.

Last year she was called to support the senior team during the She Believes Cup in the United States.

Starting out as a striker she moved into goalkeeping as a teen, building her club career at Birmingham City, before heading across the city to Aston Villa where she currently plays.

England take on Northern Ireland at 5.15pm today.
