This much anticipated top or the table clash between Studley and Worceter Raiders was spoiled by a strong wind and a referee’s display which left a lot to be desired.

Ten players were cautioned and two sent off in a game where there were really no flash points between the players.

The first half was mainly  a midfield battle with neither side able to find the cutting pass.

Worcester did finally break through when they were awarded a penalty on 20 mins which Cooper duly despatched into the bottom corner.

Studley had to respond and got the equaliser some 10 minutes later when Dale Edwards scored slotting home after Young had made a couple of saves in quick succession.

Worcester took the lead on 38 minute when Mahon scored a good goal from 20yds turning inside his marker and finding the bottom corner of the net.

I had lost count of cautions by this time but I think we were half way and Worcester went in 2 v 1 up at the break.

The second half began and continued with Studley having most of the ball but unable to break down a resolute Worcester defence who I think were trying to hold onto what they had.

The caution’s were still coming and the inevitable happened on 80 minutes when Jack Cresswell was sent off for his second yellow for another innocuous tackle.

This seemed to spur Studley on and they continued to press going close on a couple of occasions.

The deserved equaliser did arrive on 88 minute when Danny Carter scored with a free kick from some 20 yards.

However the referee not wishing to be upstaged gave a straight red card to Carter on 90 minutes after a 50/50/challenge.

Final score: Studley FC 2-2 Worcester Raiders
