REDDITCH United has been awarded funding from Parkinson’s UK to develop weekly walking football sessions.
The sessions, which are specifically for people living with Parkinson’s, will be held at the Trico Stadium this summer.
Balvinder Shekhon, Redditch United’s community officer, said: “This is another opportunity for us to support our community and create inspiring experiences.
“We are proud of our partnership with Parkinson's UK and looking forward to welcoming enthusiastic participants to the football club.
“This further highlights the power of collaboration between organisations to improve physical activity levels and wellbeing.”
The sessions will be tailored for people living with Parkinson's, allowing for the development of movement with a football and specialist skill sessions to support coordination and movement.
It’s estimated that 446 people in Redditch and Bromsgrove have Parkinson’s, with 56 people over the age of 45 being diagnosed with Parkinson’s per year.
