REDDITCH United will open its gates to all for free for its upcoming fixture against Hitchin Town.

The club said: "We recognise that January is a tough time with financial constraints, and we’re dedicated to ensuring that football is available to everyone.

"With very few top-flight football games on, why not come to back your local club?

"The Reds currently occupy a play-off spot and need the backing of the town to keep pushing us on."

The game will kick off at 7.45pm at the Valley Stadium on Monday, January 15.

It's set to be a big week for the Reds as they will also host Bromsgrove Sporting on Saturday, January 20. There will also be discounted tickets for that derby on sale at the free entry game.

The offer comes after the team missed out on a win after a nail-biting seven-goal thriller against Coalville Town.

Coalville took an early lead with Tim Berridge scoring on 25 minutes but AJ George quickly equalised for the Reds at 29 minutes.

A penalty was given which saw Reece Flanagan take the Reds 2-1 up at 32 minutes before Berridge levelled the score again at 45 minutes to make it 2-2 as the teams went to half-time.

Redditch's Alex Cameron made it 3-2 after an hour's play but Coalville’s Terell Pennant equalised again at 77 minutes.

Pennant's brace made it 4-3 at 81 minutes, leading to a disappointing end to an exciting game for the Reds.
